The primary function of Activity Finder is to provide a searchable list of natural resource-oriented classroom activities and let the educators decide what will work best for them. The criteria to include materials is:

1. The material must be activity based (eliminates the information only materials) although at the request of teachers, some videos and posters are in the database

2. The materials must be donated and

3. The focus of the materials must be natural resources Activity Finder lists each activity in the guide along with a description of the activity, the best location to conduct the activity (inside, outside, active...), classification of the activity (i.e.. water, water quality, groundwater....) and the learning skills associated (i.e.. observing, researching, data collecting...).

The "full edition" of Activity Finder includes almost 9,000 activity descriptions including the out of print materials. The current published edition includes over 6,200 activity descriptions and forms the basis of the resource here.
