1. INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCES ON SUSTAINABILITY

A special volume of the Environmental Education, Communication and
Sustainability Series titled "International Experiences on Sustainability"
is being prepared for the World Summit on Sustainable Development in
Johannesburg, South Africa in August. A special focus of the book will be
given to experiences (no theory!) on sustainability at the government,
industry and political level, especially those with a cross-border or
international dimension. The Editors are looking for interesting experiences
and case studies (projects, field activities, legislation, etc) from both
industrialized and developing countries.

Colleagues are welcome to send a short outline of their contribution so that
the details and logistics involved with potential input may be discussed.
Contact Prof Walter Leal Filho at: leal@xxxxxxx for more information.

2. GROUNDWATER FOUNDATION ANNUAL CONFERENCE - CALL FOR PRESENTERS
November 18-20 - Valley River Inn, Eugene, Oregon

citizens, scientists, regulators, and water system managers about
groundwater as a crucial component of watershed protection. Papers may
include innovative watershed management programs, case studies of successful
watershed protection and monitoring programs, and relevant research.
Presentations will enhance our understanding of groundwater's role in the
watershed and citizen involvement in watershed protection. Presentations
will be 25-minute classroom style presentations. A limited number of
conference workshops that explore a subject in depth may be considered.

Please prepare a brief 200 word abstract and submit it with your completed
presentation entry form to The Groundwater Foundation. Submission Deadline:
June 1st. Online presentation submission form and suggested topic areas
available at:

greenway projects; assist grassroots greenway organizations; leverage
additional money for conservation and greenway development; and recognize
