The conference builds on the International Conference held at Buckinghamshire-Chilterns University (UK) in 2002 and aims to foster an international community of researchers whose work critically examines outdoor education theory and practice.  By bringing together

4. VOLVO ADVENTURE PRIZE

Volvo is offering young people the chance to devise and publish action plans to help their environment under five headings: Biodiversity, Consumption, Water, Transportation and Pollution. The challenge is to produce a practical action plan that will improve your school or community environment. The Volvo web site provides simple activities to try out and a method to write up ideas. The best teams from each country will be asked to join an international conference to present their ideas in Sweden, and compete for a cash prize. All of the ideas and action plans will be published and presented to the United Nations Environment Programme.

5. FY2004 APPROPRIATIONS - UPDATE

The House VA, HUD and Independent Agencies appropriations subcommittee is scheduled to markup their version of the FY04 budget after the July recess ends on the 7th.  Subcommittee members have expressed support for continuing EPA's funding for environmental education in FY04 at last year's level.  It is unclear whether the Senate will also mark up their version of the budget before the end of July.  Senators Bond (R-MO) and Mikulski (D-MD), the chair and ranking member of the Senate VA, HUD appropriations subcommittee respectively, have indicated their support for the EE program at EPA.
