1. JOURNAL OF ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION ? CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

 

The Journal of Environmental Education seeks unpublished articles on important research; reports on projects, programs, and initiatives; review articles; and critical essays/analyses on issues and policies. The Journal seeks to publish material that is designed to advance the instruction, theory, methods, and practice of environmental communication and education. It publishes articles dealing with environmental education at all levels, from primary through college and adult education. Subject areas include the sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

2. PACIFIC LIFE FOUNDATION

 

The Pacific Life Foundation accepts grant proposals from agencies seeking funds for programs and projects in the areas of health and human services; education; arts and culture; and civic, community, and environment. Contributions are made primarily in areas with large concentrations of Pacific Life employees - generally, Orange County, California, and the greater Phoenix, Arizona area. Some California statewide and national organizations also receive support. Most general grants are given for program support or operating expenses and range from $2,500 to $10,000 for a one-year period.

3. COMMUNITY BIODIVERSITY EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM
November 12-14 - National Conservation Training Center, Shepherdstown, West Virginia


The program will bring 40 formal and nonformal educators from institutions, organizations, associations, refuges, and parks together to explore creative ways to enhance biodiversity education locally and globally.  Educators are sought from across the country  (with a concentration of participants from the Rivers and Streams of the American Southeast ecoregion) that have responsibility for reaching out to others in their organization, community, or state. The training session will include a range of interactive sessions from how to develop or enhance biodiversity education programs to ways to engage students, educators, and citizens in biodiversity issues to ideas for fundraising to support biodiversity education efforts.

 

Applications are due to World Wildlife Fund by September 12th.

4. QWEST FOR EDUCATION

 

Qwest for Education focuses on enriching the lives of children by supporting solid K-12 educational programs. The Foundation will consider programs that support innovative models to strengthen K-12 public school education, improvement of skills and leadership of educators, and effective use of technology to improve K-12 public school instruction.

6. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION ? THE CORE OF DISCOVERY

Kentucky Association for Environmental Education

September 19 ? 21 - General Butler State Resort Park, Carrollton, Kentucky

 

KAEE?s annual conference is organized around the following strands: Discovering the Environment, At the Core of Learning (methods and strategies for meeting state and national standards through EE), and Environmental Issues ? Then and Now (environmental risk assessment, the use of technology in EE and the state of the environment). This year?s special guest is Dr. Bora Simmons, Northern Illinois University.

7. DEVELOPING A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR EE IN OK

Oklahoma Consortium for Environmental Education (OCEE) Leadership Institute
September 25-26 - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma's environmental education initiative is to increase the size and diversity of its existing Environmental Education (EE) network. Team representatives from throughout Oklahoma will report on their progress towards implementing the action plans they created at a Leadership Clinic held earlier in the year. Other Institute attendees will include the members of the OCEE Steering Committee meeting. The flow of process at the Institute will be "Vision to Mission to Issue Goals to Action Plans." The Institute will have a second part in December to create the Strategic/Master EE plan based on the goals and action plans created during the first part in September.

8. COASTAL WILDLIFE - FEELING THE SQUEEZE

October 1st ? Video Conference

 

The conference programme will include presentations on climate change, coastal habitats and coastal defense, a field visit and workshop sessions. There will also be opportunities for feedback from schools and delegates. Classrooms (target age group of 15 years old) from around the world and a variety of disciplines are invited to join this videoconference hosted at University College Chichester, England.  Students from the east coast of Canada or the United States and South Africa are of particular interest.

9. SUSTAINABLE SWEDEN STUDY TOUR

The Sustainable Sweden Tours offer a program of study visits, seminars, cultural events and forums for discussions. Sweden has decades of experience with successful, innovative and practical examples from different fields of sustainable development.
