2. NEEAP/EETAP EE CAPACITY BUILDING NEWS NEEDS SURVEY
Online - July 1 - August 31, 2004
Please take a few minutes to complete an online survey compiled by the
National Environmental Education Advancement Project (NEEAP). This survey
seeks to document the value and use of various EE publications by those
involved in EE capacity building efforts at the national, state and local
levels. The survey is being done on behalf of partners involved in the EE
and Training Partnership (EETAP). Your time and advice is greatly
appreciated.

3. IES GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION - CALL FOR PAPERS
The Indian Environmental Society (IES) conference, September 19-23, 2005 in
Agra, India purpose is to evaluate the steps taken as a follow-up of Tbilisi
at regional, national and global levels to strengthen EE and also to
appraise the activities and success of programs developed and implemented on
environmental education in the last three decades. Topics will include:
environmental education in formal and non-formal education systems, EE and
trade, media, case studies, success stories, biodiversity conservation,
eco-restoration and environmental legislation and EE. Papers accepted will
be printed in the proceedings of the conference.

9. EARTH SYSTEMS SUMMER COURSE - ONLINE
Begins June 28, 2004 - Online
Six-week online seminar for K-12 educators: The Earth: Inside and Out
Dynamic Earth Systems from the American Museum of Natural History, is one of
five life, earth, and physical science courses being offered online.
Available for graduate credit and continuing education units (CEUs) at Adams
State College and Plymouth State University for an additional cost.

10. EE FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHERS - OHIO
August 4-5, 2004 - Burr Oak State Park, Ohio.
The workshop includes activities for teachers to help their students meet
proficiency test outcomes and the new academic content standards. Geared
toward high school teachers, but middle school teachers (6-8) may attend.
The workshop is sponsored by the Environmental Education Council of Ohio,
Environmental Education Training & Partnership and the Ohio Environmental
Education Fund. The workshop fee will be $30 and includes lunch, snacks, and
curriculum materials. One semester hour of graduate credit through Ashland
University will also be offered for a fee of $138 (pending).

11. EXPLORING NATURAL RESOURCES IN AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT - ARIZONA
June 21-26, 2004 - Scottsdale, Arizona
The 2004 Academy theme "Exploring Natural Resources in an Urban
Environment," designed to help participants gain an in-depth understanding
of the complex social and environmental impacts on the state's natural
resources. NEEAP has funding for EETAP Partners to attend the Academy. The
Academy is a cooperative effort of Arizona's natural resource professionals
and sponsored through the EETAP grant.

12. MASTER NATURALIST PROGRAM - FLORIDA
The Florida Master Naturalist Program is an adult environmental education
program for adults developed by UF/IFAS. Three 40-hour teaching modules
include: freshwater wetlands, coastal systems, and upland habitats. Students
learn science based curriculum and interpretation skills in the classroom
and in the field. Videos are available for purchase.

13. FOUNDATIONS IN URBAN ECOLOGY - MASSACHUSETTS
July 26-30, 2004 - Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts
This weeklong course studies the emerging field of urban ecology, a new
branch of environmental studies that seeks to understand the natural systems
of urban areas and the threats that face them. The course has two tracks:
Education Course - By connecting theory with real world applications,
teachers will learn hands-on, placed-based field study activities for
teaching science through the lens of urban ecology; and Natural Cities
Course - Environmental professionals and community members will gain
practical knowledge about urban ecology and the tools of environmental
assessment and community transformation.

15. URBAN BIRD STUDIES WORKSHOP - NEW YORK
June 18, 2004 - Ithaca, New York
Learn about Urban Bird Studies projects and other projects and activities

16. INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE FOR BIODIVERSITY EDUCATION - FLORIDA
October 11-16, 2004 - Orlando, FL

World Wildlife Fund and Disney's Animal Kingdom are looking for 40 leaders
to participate in "The International Leadership Institute for Biodiversity
Education " to be held at the Walt Disney World Resort. The goal of this
institute is to provide the tools to enable participants to lead, engage,
and inspire others to protect biodiversity. The institute is open to
leaders who work at the local, state, national, or international level, and
who have a broad reach, experience in implementing programs, and creating
effective partnerships. Scholarships are available to support registration
fees and travel for pre-service educators and those who work with
pre-service educators. Please indicate your interest in these funds and your
role in pre-service when you submit your application. There is no cost for
educational materials and housing during the institute.
