for Environmental Education (NAAEE), with funding from the Environmental
Education and Training Partnership (EETAP).
**NAAEE 2005 Conference Announcement**
NAAEE is pleased to announce that its 34th Annual Conference will be
held Oct. 25-29, 2005 in Albuquerque, New Mexico! The Environmental
Education Association of New Mexico has graciously agreed to help host
the event. Visitors to Albuquerque will enjoy a diverse array of
cultural and biological wonders. The towering Sandia Mountains provide a
stunning
backdrop, while the Rio Grande itself flows through the heart of the
city. Historic Santa Fe is just an hour away. A Call for Presentation
Proposals will be posted on the NAAEE website in early 2005.

1. ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AWARDS PROGRAM
Nominations: February 15 through April 15, 2005
The Lake Superior Binational Forum sponsors an annual environmental
stewardship awards program in a Youth Category that recognizes and
promotes outstanding youth leadership in activities that protect or
restore the natural environmental in the Lake Superior basin. Individual
students, youth clubs or groups, or schools can enter in this category.

2. 2ND ANNUAL P3 AWARD
Deadline: January 27, 2005
A National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Focusing on
People, Prosperity, and the Planet. The P3 competition will provide
grants to teams of college students to research, develop, and design
solutions to challenges to sustainability. P3 highlights people,
prosperity, and the planet - the three pillars of sustainability - as
the next step beyond P2 or pollution prevention. EPA and its affiliates
offer the P3 Award competition to respond to the technical needs of the
developed and developing world in moving towards the goal of sustainability.

3. SWITZER ENVIRONMENTAL FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Deadline: January 7, 2005
Switzer Environmental Fellowship Program for graduate students in New
England and California whose studies are directed toward improving
environmental quality and who demonstrate leadership in their field. The
fellowship provides a one-year $13,000 cash award for graduate study as
well as networking and leadership support to awardees.

4. FEDCO CLASSROOM ENRICHMENT FUND
Deadline: February 21, 2005
The FEDCO Foundation Classroom Enrichment Fund is for full-time K-12
public school teachers in the Cerritos, Culver City, Norwalk La Mirada,
Pasadena, & Los Angeles Unified School Districts. Grants are intended to
support hands-on, classroom, or "real-world" field trip projects that
"bring learning to life" and increase student academic achievement.

5. K-12 SCHOOLS OF DISTINCTION AWARD

Intel and Scholastic Schools of Distinction awards program for

6. SCHOLARSHIPS TO THE AMAZON RAINFOREST WORKSHOP
Application Deadlines: January 8, February 8, and March 8, 2005
K-12 teachers and environmental educators can win a $1000 scholarship to
travel to the Amazon and work with scientists in one of the most diverse
environments in the world. The Amazon Rainforest Workshop for Educators,
scheduled July 5-14, 2005, is a professional development opportunity for
teachers to experience a 1/4 mile canopy walkway and visit the
indigenous people who call the rainforest ecosystem their home. Academic

21. CALL FOR NWF FELLOWSHIP PROPOSALS
Deadline: December 15, 2004
National Wildlife Federation is now accepting applications for its 2005
Fellowships for undergraduate and graduate students interested in
enhancing the environment. Fellows receive a modest grant, project
support, recognition of their accomplishments and other benefits. They
assist with the research, design and implementation of projects to help
reduce consumption and pollution, restore habitat and other
environmentally helpful initiatives. Fellows also attend NWF's annual
meeting in March of 2005 in Washington DC. New this year! Fellowship
grants will be awarded in the following areas: Campus greening, civic
engagement and research projects addressing global warming, water
policy, Native American and Alaska Native communities, volunteerism and
