1. PRESIDENT'S ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH AWARDS (PEYA)
Application Deadline: July 31, 2005
The EPA President's Environmental Youth Awards recognizes young people across America for projects that demonstrate their commitment to the environment. K-12 students that are sponsored by an adult must submit evidence of a completed project as defined in the application to their local EPA regional office.

2. SIEMENS WESTINGHOUSE COMPETITION
Application Deadline: October 3, 2005
2005-06 Siemens Westinghouse Competition, the nation's premier research-based math and science competition for individual high school students or as part of a team. The Siemens competition awards college scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $100,000. Online registration and instructions for entering the competition are now available.

3. NAAEE EE RESEARCH AWARD DEADLINE EXTENDED
The deadline for submitting nominations for the "Outstanding Contributions to Research in Environmental Education" award of the North American Association for Environmental Education has been extended to July 1st. Please take a moment to think of an educator who might be worthy of this award.

4. BRAITMAYER FOUNDATION K-12 EDUCATION GRANTS
Deadline: June 30, 2005
The Braitmayer Foundation offers grants of up to $10,000 to fund a broad range of K-12 education programs. The foundation is particularly interest in curricular reform initiatives and professional development opportunities for teachers, particularly those encouraging people of high ability and diverse background to enter and remain in K-12 teaching. All K-12 schools in the United States, as well as independent 501(c)3 organizations with an education focus, are eligible.

5. BRIMSTONE AWARD FOR APPLIED STORYTELLING
Preliminary proposals deadline: August 1, 2005, and full proposals due by: September 19, 2005.
The National Storytelling Network annual Brimstone Award for Applied Storytelling, a grant of $5000 for a project that focuses on the transformational properties of storytelling to increase understanding of the ways storytelling can promote change in individuals and communities. Educators are invited to submit a storytelling project that is service-oriented, based in a community or organization, and replicable in other places and situations.

6. GREENWORKS! GRANTS
Deadline: September 30, 2005
Grant opportunity from GreenWorks! for Project Learning Tree (PLT) trained educators to implement community action and service-learning projects from $50 to $1000. Projects should address an environmental issue and involve students from pre-school to high school in hands-on community action. Visit the website for guideline details.

7. DO SOMETHING GRANTS FOR YOUTH COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Deadline: September 2, 2005
Grants to students under age 18, who identify problems in their community and then develop a plan to "Do Something" to make a difference. Grants of $500 are awarded to fund these community projects.

8. CAPTAIN PLANET FOUNDATION
2005 Application Deadlines: 6/30, 9/30, 12/31
Captain Planet Foundation awards to encourage children, worldwide to solve environmental problems in their communities. Awards are between $250 and $2,500 for schools and nonprofit organizations that develop innovative environmental projects for youth that promote cooperation, planning, and problem-solving skills.

9. ENVIRONMENTAL EXCELLENCE AWARDS
Deadline: November 30, 2005
Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Fujifilm Environmental Excellence Awards for outstanding K-12 students and teachers nationwide who are working on projects that offer creative solutions to environmental problems. Eight awards annually of $10,000 and one $5000 award for an environmental educator.

10. SUSTAINABLE SWEDEN STUDY TOUR 2005
Deadline: June 30, 2005
The Sustainable Sweden Tour, August 13-26, 2005 will include study visits with a variety of eco-municipalities across Sweden -- everything from rural areas to large cities. Participants will visit with good examples of comprehensive sustainable ("green") development, meet with officials and representatives behind the projects and attend interactive workshops. Cultural celebrations and delicious meals are also featured. Tour facilitators include Sweden's leading sustainability pioneers who will explore Sweden's 20-year eco-municipality movement and discuss ways the model can be replicated in other parts of the world.

11. CITIZENSHIFT: FREE RANGE MEDIA FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

14. ESTUARYLIVE 2005 VIRTUAL TOUR

EstuaryLive, 2005 interactive field trip exploration of eight estuaries. Students can ask questions during the program that will be answered live.
