Internet Watershed Educational Tool (InterWET)
"Water resource and watershed education with interactive calculators and maps. InterWET can be used as a stand-alone educational resource and as part of larger watershed educational efforts for a variety of people in many different watersheds." Uses the Spring Creek Watershed in central Pennsylvania as a case study. Developed by S.C. Parson, PhD, Pennsylvania State University.

New Frontier in Brazil: People, Progress and the Environment
This case study describes the situation in the Amazon and discusses some of the advantages and disadvantages of developing the region. Students evaluate the concept of "progress" related to growth and to the preservation (or destruction) of the environment and indigenous culture. Ocean Adventure!
Hands-on marine education programs in New England. Topics include:coastal geology, marine ecology, and watersheds (K-12). Programs range from one hour to four days. Program outlines, vocabulary lists and in class activities are all sent in the weeks preceding the program. Supplementary video material is also available.

Ocean Resources Game
Role-playing activity explores the potentials for cooperation and conflict in relation to control of the seas. Playing roles of decision makers, students learn about issues and positions involved in exploiting the wealth of the sea, including minerals, oil, and fish. Desert Tortoise Preserve Committee
Committee working to conserve the endangered desert tortoise by protecting the habitat it needs to survive. The DTPC site features information on the preserves, a virtual field trip to the Desert Tortoise Natural Area, in Kern County California, research papers, and information on wild tortoises.

Living on Earth
Living on Earth is National Public Radio's journal of the environment. It is a weekly, one-hour show airing in over 240 stations in the U.S. The site includes RealAudio files of the program every week, in addition to archives of transcripts.

Europe's on-line environmental education newsletter. A project of the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg.

European Research and Training Centre on Environmental Education

National Biological Information Infrastructure (NBII)
